Weekly Colorado Flu Report

Influenza confirmed in Pueblo County November 2017

The best way to protect against the flu is to get a flu shot each year. For flu vaccine, contact your doctor, pharmacy, or grocery store. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends everyone get a flu vaccine each year as soon as it is available. Anyone six months and older is encouraged to receive the vaccine, including pregnant women. If all healthy individuals receive a flu shot, those unable to receive a flu shot will be more protected.

Tips to help stop the spread of germs at home, work, and school:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cough or sneeze into a tissue or a sleeve.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water to help protect yourself from germs. If soap and water are not available use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Germs spread this way.
